SISTER. RUNNER. VEGAN.

Born and raised in San Jose, California, I have enjoyed the beauty and bounty of our precious earth to its absolute fullest. I'm equally beach-bum as I am mountain-explorer. I love trail running, camping, hiking, and jumping in lakes, rivers, and oceans.
I'm one of 8 sisters so to say that family is an important component of my life would be an understatement. Equally as frequent as the hair-pulling have been the shoulders to cry on and, later, shoulders to stand on. I consider myself lucky to have been surrounded by strong women both within my family, education, career, and friendships.
My mother is of Mexican descent and my father from a rural farming background. Both of my parents have instilled in me hard-work and empathy. I've never met such selfless individuals.
I like to say that I "came out of the womb an environmentalist." I don't ever remember a time in my life when saving whales and polar bears wasn't on my personal agenda. As an adult, that has manifested itself through my education as an atmospheric scientist and lifestyle as a vegan.
I understand the privilege that I have been born into and *try* to remain grounded and thankful every single day.
I love avocados, bananas, Halloween, and dogs and cats equally.
